Why We Choose Handmade: The Story Behind Dance Peruvian Artcrafts

More Than Decoration — A New Way to Live with Peruvian Craft

For too long, Peruvian artcrafts have been admired from a distance — placed on a shelf, hung on a wall, or tucked away as a souvenir. Beautiful, yes. But untouched. Unused. As if their value lived only in being looked at.

We believe differently.

At Dance Peruvian Artcrafts, we see Peruvian craftsmanship as something meant to be lived with — carried in your hands, worn on your body, used at your table, and woven into the rhythm of your everyday life.

A Dream That Crossed Borders

This store began with my mother.

When she migrated to the United States, she brought with her something that no suitcase could fully contain: a deep love for the artisans of Peru and a vision that their work deserved a place in American homes — not as curiosities, but as companions to daily life.

She saw what others overlooked: that a hand-woven textile isn't just art — it's a blanket that keeps you warm. That a leather bag isn't just a craft — it's the one that goes with you everywhere. That a piece of Peruvian jewelry isn't just beautiful — it's the one you reach for every morning.

She built that dream from the ground up, with her spirit as a businesswoman and her pride in carrying high the name of Peru and its working people.

Carrying Her Legacy Forward

When my mother passed, she left me more than a small business. She left me a purpose.

I won't pretend the road has been easy. Keeping a family business alive while holding down a job and caring for a family takes everything you have — and then some. There are days when the weight of it all feels enormous. My mother had a gift I don't fully share: that natural instinct for business, for negotiation, for making things happen with confidence and grace. I miss that in her. I miss her.

But what I do carry — just as deeply, just as fiercely — is love. Love for what is ours. For our culture, our history, our craft. And a quiet but unshakeable determination to carry that legacy beyond our borders, so that the hands of Peruvian artisans can be felt in homes across the world, one piece at a time.

I made a promise to continue what she started — to honor the artisans who pour their skill and soul into every piece, and to share their work with a world that is ready to embrace it, not just admire it.

Every product in this store is chosen with that intention. Functional. Beautiful. Made to be used.

Handmade for Your Everyday

Whether you're looking for a bag that tells a story, a textile that transforms your living room, a tender and soft little llama 100% alpaca or handmade Andean loom dolls or jewelry that moves through your day with you — you're in the right place.

Welcome to Living Peru. Welcome to the craft that lives.
